Sophisticated, chic and decidedly informal.
A custom, ground-up residence in Sea Girt, New Jersey, takes its cues from the classic cedar-shingle Colonial homes along the eastern seashore, telling a narrative through a modern vernacular. A palette of moody blues and grays, crisp white shiplap and trimwork, earthy cerused woods, and warm oak finishes lend that seaside appeal. But luxe furnishings, sartorial tweeds, custom built-ins and sculptural lighting eschew the traditional nautical wheels and anchors for a grown-up coastal look and feel that is refreshing and unexpected.
